First and foremost, welcome to the FFXI BG forums.

These are the current rules to keep the forums running smoothly. They are subject to change.

I. Topics
FFXI Advanced Discussion is for endgame issues, conflicts, and drama.
FFXI Newbie Discussion is for simple questions, or questions related to leveling jobs at lower levels. Post here if you're not sure where your question belongs, and don't get upset if your question from the advanced section gets moved here.

II. Work Safe
Lots of people read the forums from work, labs, and other places where they can be jeopardized as a result of unexpected image posts. This point is simple; do not post images of porn. They will be deleted. If you persist, you will be banned. Our definition of "porn" is any nude depiction of a man or woman, butts included. Pictures of explicit sexual acts that perhaps hide the nudity are prohibited as well. Any sort of linking to such images MUST be marked (ie. NWS or NSFW). Failure to do so will result in a one time warning, in case you forgot, then a ban.

III. Legal
Any post that will put BlueGartr or any friendly affiliate of BlueGartr at legal risk will be immediately deleted. If these posts are malicious, repetitive, or very serious, the user will be banned. This means NO SE material such as GM manuals. Dont talk about it, dont mention it, dont reference it. SE has contacted us when this has occured previously, we do not wish to recieve any more phone calls regarding it.

IV. Griefing and Necroposting
Threads that are griefed will be locked. This doesn't apply to playful lighthearted banter, rather to intentional successful derailment of serious discussion. Repetitive quoting of a quote, excessive off-topic anti-topic posting, and other things of that nature will lead to a thread lock. Necroposting (posting on a thread over a week old without adding anything substantial to the discussion) will result in immediate banning. Being primarily FFXI gaming forums, repetitive comparisons to other MMOs with the intent of causing conflict is not acceptable. This also includes not adding anything to a conversation that is currently going on other than "First!" or "tl;dr"(Other than spam forum, where those sayings are allowed).

V. Future Cases
We reserve the right to add new rules to this list as cases occur. We will add those cases to this list as we begin to take action against them.

VI. Thread Removal
If you post a thread, but aren't happy with the results of the thread because something didn't go your way, too bad. Editing it to remove your content is a bannable offense. You posted it for us to read, now we're going to read it.

VII. Backseat Modding
Moderators will move/lock topics as they deem necessary. People who post a response indicating that a topic should be in a different section will be banned.

VIII. Gimmick or fake accounts
Gimmick or fake accounts made to circumvent your real posting name to deceive users of your real account is bannable. The moderators and admin staff can check and confirm, both accounts will be banned.

If the Admins of this site find you guilty of the breaching of any of these rules, you will be punished. Depending on the severity of the breach of rules, whether you are banned,warned or temp banned is decided case by case.

We also reserve the right to ban anyone from the forums to preserve the solidarity of our forums. This does not mean you will be banned for holding a different opinion from the rest of the group, but if you choose to cause issues without reason, you will be banned.

IX: Spoiler Tags.
Spoiler tags will be used for TV shows, movies, video games, books, anything that somebody would consider a spoiler to a certain degree. If you are unsure, use a spoiler tag because its better to be safe than sorry, you can go back and edit out spoiler tags for obvious well known things. Any abuse of the spoiler tags will be dealt with by the admins and moderators. This means putting random messages that have nothing to do with the topic and are not spoilers at all but whatever you feel like will not be tolerated. Use of spoilers in the spam forum is heavily discouraged.

XI. Accounts and RMT Activities
BlueGartrLS forums strictly forbid the buying and selling of accounts on forum grounds, this includes discussion via the public forums or privately via PM as well as the IRC channel (#bluegartrls on gamesurge.net). Anyone found attempting to sell or buy an account or reported as contacting or being contacted about account selling will lose privileges on the forums and possibly banned either temporarily or permanently. This includes discussion of stealing accounts or hacks used to steal accounts that are not of a warning nature.

Note: Provide as much information as possible, posting speculation is a scare tactic for a community already on edge, if you dont know what happened, dont post until you do.

Example of an illegal use of this rule:
Guys I am selling my account at ABC.com forum, check it out.
Hey look at who is selling their account (link).
Note: People sell their account, it happens all the time, we do not condone it or allow it on the forums, if a post is made report it to a moderator or an admin, we will handle it and issue the proper punishment.

XII. Racial Slurs and Extremely Derogatory Terms
Racial slurs and extremely derogatory terms are no longer allowed on the BG forums in the standard posting sections. Usage of these terms does not add anything to the conversation. Exemption zones are the spam forum only, however excessive use of them will result in the loss of privileges for the spam forum. We are adults and intelligent people, there is no reason we must attack our fellow man and the opposite gender with worthless comments. This is now at a stop, you will receive warnings, infractions, or bans to your account. The administrative staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. In or out of context the usage of racial slurs/extremely derogatory terms is no longer allowed.
